Medicaid is a public benefits program, administered by each state and is co-funded by the federal government. Medicaid eligibility varies from state to state, but the overall eligibility is based on specific financial, medical, and age criteria. In order for one to qualify for Medicaid, you must be older than 65, disabled, and have, no more than around $2,000 in assets.  There are many ways to plan for eligibility.

Medicaid Waiver Program is another program offered to save on medical costs. The Medicaid Waiver is a benefits program which is offered to qualified Medicaid applicants as an alternative to long-term custodial nursing home care. The Waiver Program allows an eligible individual to stay in their own home, and receive support services provided for and paid for by Medicaid.

Although, it appears to be very easy to apply for Medicaid or the Medicaid Waiver Program, let us assure you that the qualifying and eligibility rules can be quite extensive and in fact overwhelming.
